Hello,
I have a few questions in regards to using the 6 man tablebase.
1. What is the difference between .dtz and .wdl torrent file? What are the suitable uses for each file?

2. I have been having some connection issue with the torrent file. I use Delurge to download the torrent file. I know connection issue is common with p2p. In case this happens again I went to look at the emule option.
My question is, based on the site where I found the 6 man tablebases, I installed emule to get the files, put in the link I found and not finding anything. I did try to use the .tbs files on the main site but the file types were different than what I saw with my file types for Syzygy 3-4-5 so I wasn't sure if I had the actual files or not. Any help with this would be appreciated.

There are *.rtbw and *.rtbz files.

The *.rtbw files contain WDL (win/draw/loss) information.
The *.rtbz files contain DTZ (distance to zero) information.

Distance to zero means the minimum (if you're winning) or maximum (if you're losing) number of moves until a mate, capture or pawn move.

The *.rtbw files are used during the search to determine if a winning TB position can be reached.

Once a winning TB position is on the board, the *.rtbz files are used to figure out how to make progress (get to a mate, winning capture or winning pawn move).

I don't know how easy or difficult it is to download the files via emule. But if emule doesn't work out, you can try downloading them from here:

The latter site even offers a number of 7-men files for download. Most engines are not yet able to use those.

Just Yesterday I bought a new laptop with 16 GB of ram
and I thought to stress tesing it for some time with the syzygy generator, just to see if there is anything wrong with it.
I agree it is not the best way or even a way at all.

but let's forget about that,
I must have been missing something here,
there is 7men syzygys?!
and where is the generator for that?
how much ram does it use?
and why the forum is totally silent about this!
the man himself is telling about this
and if not here where to find more about this?

is there is a one
I tried to compile from source but I have a very little knowledge in that and my efforts did not work till now
A readily compiled exe would very nice if someone has it

It took noobpwnftw five months to generate the 7-men tables on his 8x Intel Xeon Platinum / 1TB+ RAM rig. That's around $50,000 just for the CPUs. Do you have access to comparable hardware, redpawn?

Absolutely not, I don't have that kind of money to spare, maybe 9 years ago before the war in my country but even then....etc.
But do I really have to own such a rig to ask for the generator?!
Specifically in this field I've always had the software (generators), before even owning the needed hardware.
it is just a hobby in the end.
is it that complicated to compile a new version of the generator with the updated code of syzygy or noobpwnftw from github?!
sorry but I don't see the complexity in that.
Correct if I am wrong.

You could try contacting Ronald or Bojun directly (the former's email is readily available, at least), but my reading of that thread shows that generation of 7-men TBs requires 1TB of RAM. There's a further confirmation of that in the latest post by Sesse: link.

Actually Syria in general is much much safer now especially here in Damascus.
I haven't heard an explosion or such sounds in almost two months.
Kind of weird if you ask me, I've grown accustomed to sleeping with military operations all around Damascus day and night non stop 24/7 for almost the last 4 years.
I had even eventually liked the tremors in the ground out of the large explosions and most of the time they helped me sleeping, it was like someone rocking a cradle for me...
not minding that in the last few years I did not even have a bed. sleeping on the ground ......etc
but who cares all of it is history now.
