Curious question for anyone who has most or a lot of the egtb's.

It seems that you have to have all of the egtbs in the same directory in order for the engine to utilize them. So it also seems you'd have to use some kind of LVM technology to make all of the 1.5TB worth of HD's look like 1 drive.

Is this true or is there a way around that?

Actually I think most engines can use tablebases in several directories, and even on different disks. It is possible to have everything in one folder of you combine several disks. Please try to avoid RAID 0 and JBOD though, as they don't have any redundancy. RAID 5 is good in terms of cost efficiency, safety and speed. RAID 10 is faster but more expensive. It also depends on your RAID controller, you need decent controller for good performance. Software RAID is not good, because it uses lot of CPU time, and because it is not safe enough.
