Re: 6 MEN TBs GENERATOR
I have downloaded 6 MEN TBs GENERATOR from the link above.
1) What is the command to generate complete 3-4-5 table base?
2) what is the command to generate complete 6 men table base?
Thanks!

Re: 6 MEN TBs GENERATOR
I don't know, how much memory is required per position, but
1301488080 positions / byte per position = 1.21 gb
so you have to check whether you have enough ram for this operation

Re: 6 MEN TBs GENERATOR
Bingo, now it works with Vista64:
TbGen -2 -m auto -b 128 -d C:\TB\345 -v -c 256 knnknn
Time for this:: 1h 5min, its ok;-)
I have 6 GB RAM, in Vista32 "-m auto" crashes permanently, 4 GB- 32bit- Bug?
Is there a "-4" option in the future (for my quad;-)
thank you, codeman!

Re: 6 MEN TBs GENERATOR
A 32bit operating system can't address more than 4GB. So it would be possible that the generation takes 4 byte per position and this just exceeded this limitation.
4 bytes would make sense, as Nalimovs egtb are DTM, which have to store values > 256 for 6men. Thus it probably reserves 2 bytes per position. And this *2 as it tries to hold white and black to move in ram.
If that is the case, then the generation in such a way is not the most efficient way possible, regarding memory usage.
Anyway .. good luck for your further egtb generation attempts.
