Mida 2.0 Released

Post by Jack03 »

Hello, I'm happy to announce the release of Mida 2.0
This is a big step forward from the previous versions, since NNUE was introduced. The network was trained using leela training data, but very quickly, since I want to focus on the search for the time being.
The rating range should be around 2600, but I'm not too sure of it since I tested it against only one other engine in that range. It'd be awesome if it could be tested on the CCRL. Thanks as always :D

Edit: Please let me know if there are any problems running the engine :)

Hi Giacomo,

I was not expecting this. Just this morning did I start a tournament for version 1.2.1.

Oh, sorry about that, really bad timing by me :?
Anyway, v1.2.1 will probably have a Elo loss compared to the previous ones, since it was more of a code refactoring which resulted in a slight performance drop. You can skip it completely or, if you have already tested it, you can skip it in the future and test directly v2.0 :D

That’s good to hear. To be honest I didn’t even test it because improving wasn’t the goal. Seeing a reduction in the nps by around 10%, I assumed it would be worse, even though I made some changes to the search. Anyway, the improvements with v2.0 will defenitely be greater

They run OK here without additional DLL's.

Is something missing? On my PC the .exe compiles and runs fine for v2.0

I don't understand why Mida 2 generates an NNUE file when it is already integrated in the exe.

That's just the implementation I went for. It is also used by CFish https://github.com/syzygy1/Cfish as I saw from the code so I assumed it was OK.

Won't run here, missing DLL message. I suspect it is OK for you Gabor because you probably have GCC installed on your machine ?

Won't be tested for 40/15 without the DLL files.

I have just compiled this using the -static flag so it will include everything needed (I think).

Will delete it soon to save space.

To be honest, I don't see much point in testing it, it's just a normal Mida, probably using a Stockfish net.

The net is trained by myself. However, the search doesn't include many new features, so the ELO gain won't be great. I'm working on v2.1 which at the moment sits around 2900 ELO

All right, I'll try to add DLL files to v2.1 :D

Thanks, Gabor, but I'm after Mida 2.0 64-bit.
