I'm happy to announce the release of Orion 0.9, a new version of my little chess engine with :
- support for SMP ;
- a 24x smaller neural network ;
- speed improvement and memory consumption reduction ;
- correction of a small bug in 3-pieces endgame evaluation.
More information (and important note about originality) on my website.
Kind regards from France,
David

Re: Orion 0.9 release
Hi David, splendid news! I'm off to your site!
Cheers,
Gabor
PS. My only problem is that I had to create a new Orion 0.9 folder to avoid a 'collision' (because the networks are named the same).
Cheers,
Gabor

Re: Orion 0.9 release
Thanks to all of you !
Again, thank you for your interest in my little engine
@Gabor : I'm sorry about that. I did not anticipate that someone could put several versions of Orion in only one directory (it can make sense if you have tons of engines on your machine !). I take the point, and will make more robust this aspect of the engine (for the moment, please keep v0.8 and v0.9 in distinct directories, as there is no control on size / content of the networks). I think I could also try to embed the default network directely in the executable, as done by many other engine authors nowadays.Gabor Szots wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 6:30 pm ...

Re: Orion 0.9 release
Hi all ! I'm happy to announce that Orion has finally its own domain name (https://www.orionchess.com) ! Now, I have to find the time to work on the engine (I have many ideas in mind, but no time due to heavy work). In the meanwhile, thanks again to all who have an interest in my little project, and thanks to all testers !David Carteau wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 6:09 pm I'm happy to announce the release of Orion 0.9, a new version of my little chess engine with :
