Engine ELO versus Human ELO

Post by BFG »

I know that, ordinarily, ELOs calculated for engines are not comparable to human ELOs. And, there's the added complexity that different chess federations have slightly different ELO calculations/systems.

That said, I wondered...is there any data available where a human opponent with an established ELO played several games against one or more UCI- or XBoard-compatible engines? That could be used to "index" the ELOs that are calculated.

This comes up regularly in the forums.
The general consensus seerms to be that the rating list ELOs are pretty accurate.

My Google-fu must be lacking then...I didn't see any discussions on it. Sorry about that :)
