Completion of 6-man tables bases

Post by cma6 »

Please forgive the possible naivite of this question, since I just discoved this forum. How complete are the 6-man tables bases at present?

I use the Shredder online 6-man tablebases but have no way of knowing how complete they are or if there is a more complete set available on the web. The Shredder page lists these bases:

* 4 vs 2:
All available.
* 3 vs 3 without pawns:
All available.
* 3 vs 3 with pawns:
KBB-KPP, KBN-KNP, KBP-KBP, KNN-KPP,
KNP-KNP, KQB-KBP, KQB-KNP, KQN-KBP,
KQN-KNP, KQN-KQP, KQP-KBB, KQP-KQP,
KQP-KRR, KQQ-KNP, KQQ-KPP, KQQ-KRP,
KQR-KBP, KQR-KNP, KQR-KPP, KQR-KQP,
KRB-KBP, KRN-KBP, KRN-KNP, KRP-KBB,
KRP-KBN, KRR-KNP, KRR-KPP, KBB-KBP,
KBB-KNP, KBN-KBP, KBP-KNN, KNN-KNP,
KQB-KPP, KQB-KQP, KQB-KRP, KQN-KPP,
KQN-KRP, KQP-KBN, KQP-KNN, KQQ-KBP,
KQQ-KNP, KQQ-KQP, KQR-KRP, KRB-KNP,

Hi,

at

http://kd.lab.nig.ac.jp/chess/tablebase ... html#6_men

you will find the complete sets for TB33, for TB42, for TB33p, for TB42p.

You can compare it with the Onlinebases of Stefan.

6-man EGT completeness

Post by guyhaw »

Eiko Bleicher's EGT-query service, which can be reached via the SHREDDER site, replies to any query on 3-to-6-man chess except for:

a) 16 3-3p endgames which have only become available in the last few weeks,
b) 5-1(p) endgames, which presumably you won't need to query too hard, and
c) positions including castling rights, which have heretofore been assumed not to exist - but the addition of such positions to the current EGTs is a simple 'add on' as no current position can move to one with castling rights.

I believe Eiko is now downloading the last 16 3-3p EGTs from the USA and should be offering them as part of his service very soon. Again, we have NH to thank for this.

6-man tablebases

Post by cma6 »

Pachnes, thanks for the link. This page appears to allow for downloading tablebases, but not for online query. The difference between the Shredder site and the EGT Online site is in the 3+3 with Ps: Shredder has 13 bases vs. 65 for the EGT Online site.

Guyhaw, I use the Shredder site indirectly, through the DS10 GUI. From your description, it appears that Shredder's online query service from Eiko is much more complete than the bases listed on the Shredder website.
It is also unclear what happens when you check a 6-man table base directly from the DS GUI: is that the same as a query to Eiko's bases or does it check the more limited group of bases listed by on the Shredder site?
Best, CMA

Comparing 'holdings' of 3-3p EGTs

Post by guyhaw »

[ Not sure why your repeating past messages: it's clear what you're replying to. ]

Via http://kd.lab.nig.ac.jp/chess/tablebases-online/ one can request download of any of the 65 3-3p endgames' EGTs using p2p-eMule. The last 16 have become available in the last two weeks.
The SHREDDER list, and http://www.k4it.de/index.php?topic=egtb&lang=en list 51 (not "13") 3-3p endgames available for query, but in fact there are a couple of duplicates there so there are only 49. That is to say, just the 'last 16' are missing.
Eiko Bleicher is d'loading those now and they should be available in a week if all goes well.
Both Eiko's EGT-query site and the eMule site make a total offering of the 3-to-5-man endgames' EGTs, and the 3-3 and 4-2(p) endgames. Neither offering anything on 5-1 or 5-1p endgames.
I hope that's all clear now.
