Are the 6-man EGTBs available in USA via snailmail?

Post by JohnnyBob »

Snailmail seems to be the most practical method, by far, to acquire the complete 1.2TB of Nalimov 6-piece EGTBs. I'm just starting to download them myself via the internet, and estimate that it will take me the better part of a year - owing to my slow connection and 150GB/month usage caps by my ISP.

I'm in touch with someone in France who has offered to copy them to an external 1.5TB USB 2.0 drive via snailmail, but it's a little more trouble and expense to mail overseas. So before I take that route, I thought I should ask... Is anyone in the USA willing to do so?

I'll provide the drive and pay for shipping both ways. Let me know what extra fee you would charge. You can contact me by posting below, or send me a Private Message on this board, or email me at:
xccrl@johnnybob.com

Thanks a lot!

(If I can get them this way, or any other way, I'll offer to provide the same service for others...)

Thanks very much for responding, but at this point I have an old computer which still uses IDE drives. I'm not setup for SATA drives. The best I can do is an external USB 2.0 drive. Pretty slow, admittedly, but it should work OK for someone who has a spare computer to setup the file transfer between external drives. Just get it going then come back in a few days to see what happened!? :) Then a complete MD5 checksum test might take a day or two more?! :?:

Perhaps someone else in the USA will be interested in your offer.

I'm pretty much committed now to doing it via my French connection. I had to learn a few new things such as the type of AC wall outlets they have in France, then find an adapter. If it were England, a different adapter would be required, etc. Electricity is different around the world with many different kinds of converters/adapters required, but USA-Canada are the same.

External drives can often be connected several ways. I prefer E-SATA for loading the drive, but you can use USB for using it.

Contact me at horndog187@aol.com to exchange addresses.

If you send me a drive larger than 1.5 gigs, I can fill any extra spacet with chess related software or music

I have the complete Nalimov 3-4-5-6-man EGTBs now, as well as 3-4-5 Gaviota, and am willing to provide hard drive copies via snailmail.

I also have some spare external 1.5TB USB drives which I can load with the EGTBs, so you don't have to send me a drive to initiate the process.

If you sent me an email inquiry, please send it again. I had a problem with email for awhile. Thanks.

I still have the 6 piece tablebases available and am willing to provide...
