Isn't there is a default hash setting for all UCI engines in the engine set-up screens ? I have not run Arena 3.01, but I didn't notice this behaviour in earlier versions

I've seen others report problems with Arena in the CCC forum too.

I'll run a small Arena 3.01 tournament tomorrow and see if I can replicate this problem.

Well I tried Arena 3.0 with Stockfish and Critter. I set 1024MB as the common hash size, and neither engine used it. Either the new Arena is broken, or we are both making the same mistake somewhere. I never had any issues with Arena 2.01

OK, same problem with Arena 2.01. Set common hash of 1024MB hash and the engines do not use it. However, set a common hash of 512MB and that works fine - and I assume it will probably work in Arena 3.0 as well. So definitely an Arena bug, both in 2.01 and 3.0

EDIT: It seems that after changing this setting, you have to close down Arena and re-start it for the change to take effect, in 3.0 anyway. In 3.0 I changed it from 1024 to 512 and it wasn't working. I clsoed Arena and re-started, and then 512 worked

Edit: Now 1024 works in 3.0, having changed from 512 to 1024, closed it down and re-started. This is one buggy piece of software.

I use v2.5 beta. I tried your problem, set common hash to 1024. Engines immediately used it, analysis went on for some time (less than a minute, I have no patience) but nothing changed.
It is clear that versions x.0 are buggy.
