corrupt piece question.

Post by jshriver »

amule gave me a message saying there was an error in part 35 of krpknn.0.nbw.emd.

Does edonkey just delete that piece and redownload it or is the whole file corrupted now?

eMule re-downloads the corrupt chunk. It only saves the file when it thinks the file is correct. I don't know how aMule works, but I guess it should do the same.

In any case, after the file is completely downloaded you are checking it with MD5, right? So you will know if it's corrupted anyway.

your expected behaviour is only true, kirill, if ''safe .met/.dat file writing'' is set ''always''.
(options/extended, about 1/3rd down).
setting this option to ''on shutdown'' will remove corrupted chunks on closing the program. both of these settings set the chunks in their correct place in the file they are part of after verification. setting this option off performs no verification and writes directly to the file being downloaded.
