DTC controversy

Post by byakuugan »

I was wondering if there is a type of metric that finds the highest value for DTC into a resignable endgame, rather than DTC until the first conversion. It is controversial which endgames are resignable, so I don't expect there to be, but I was thinking that it would be the most useful metric, and most consistent with human play. I was noticing that a lot of the DTC lines of endgames that contain complex sub-endings will lead to positions of the sub-ending that are very simple compared to the other possible positions of that sub-ending. It seems that a human would be more likely to convert early to challenge the opponent to play through the most complex positions of the sub-ending, and only play through the exact DTC lines if the sub-ending is resignable.
