Longest checkmates : The complete set

Post by kronsteen »

I’ve downloaded all the 6-men Nalimovs. (thanks to all e-mule sharers, and many thanks to Steinar whose site http:// tablebase.sesse.net is an invaluable resource for such a quest). Then I could use them to complete the list of longest checkmates currently held at http://kirill-kryukov.com/chess/longest-checkmates (2 vs 4, and some 3 vs 3 were missing).

Here are the updated HTML pages. I’ve also added a XML file containing additional info and who can be used to make different sortings of these positions.

There are some new jewels in the complete set – see for example kqkbnp (and also kpkbnp / kpkbpp), kqkrnp, kqkbbp, knnknp, knnkpp.

Long 7 piece checkmates

Post by Ed Trice »

Hello to everyone,

Some time ago Mark sent me some of the longest wins he encountered for 7-piece endgames that were being solved. You can see some of them here if you are interested"
