7-men egtb and wikipedia

Post by jshriver »

To follow up on a previous post. There has been a decent amount of fragmented info on 7-men egtb's over the years.
I'm proposing that we make a wikipedia entry for it and try and consolidate as much of the info we have into one place.
Even I have trouble digging up info on the fragments. Best I remember is one gentleman wrote a generator in pentium optimized assembly code, and another gentleman was running it. Some sets have been confirmed to exist but I don't know what they are.

Good or bad idea?

Definitely not a separate page into Wikipedia, as there is already the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endgame_tablebase article. You can incorporate some data into that if you want. You should consider using http://chess.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page or http://chess.wikidot.com/ , those are more dedicated wikis.
Communication usually fails, except by accident.
