We're running out of luck then :( . No wonder these code projects were left 2 yrs. ago without even being publicly released.

Furthermore, I'm also disappointed with the initial tests:

Using v3.3 dll and 3-4-5 men bitbases

Better not to use the bases than the new one!
It could be a reason why this was not released yet.

FYI.

Re: 6 piece scorpio bases

Post by Daniel Shawul »

Do you guys really really need a 6 men bitbases ?
I was not enthusiastic about generating them because 6 men bitbases are slow to generate and also to slow to access.
They can be as large as 50GB so definitely they can not be loaded in RAM hence loosing the speed advantage over tablebases.
So it seemed like a lot of work for something that Nalimov tablebases already provide ...
However the reason why I stopped working on them about two years ago was not that, but because I didn't have a machine with enough RAM
and was too lazy to improve the code. But I do recall that I generated smaller size 6 men bitbases.
cheers

Side topic, but I host the 3-4-5 scorpio bitbases on my site.
Someone told me they were no longer useful, because as of the most recent version of scorpio the format has changed, so I would need to regenerate them for the latest version.

Is this true? If so I'll remove the version I have. Willing to gen 3-4-5 and host them.
