Looking to Obtain a Specific TBGEN.ZIP File

Post by Will »

Sorry that this isn't specific to emule sharing of tablebases but I have need to generate a few uncompressed 5-man ones, and I'll need to use the information in the below linked to post to accomplish it.

http://web.archive.org/web/200307141523 ... /11324.htm

In the above post the poster speaks of a TBGEN.ZIP obtained from here-

(ftp) ://cap.connx.com/pub/chess-engines/new-approach/TBGEN.ZIP *

Anyone having this particular zip file that can help a stranger out my e-mailing it to me?

* I put the ftp in parenthesis because the link is no longer active and I didn't want the link to be displayed as an active link in this post.

Ha, who would have thought it, not me that's for sure.

The file has been located.

I hadn't thought of replacing the ftp in the zip link with http, but doing that and going to the web archive reveals the sought after zip file.

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://cap ... /TBGEN.ZIP **

** looks like the asterisk in the link causes the link not to be fully active, but a copy and paste into the browser should do the job.

The thing is in my browser the download stopped just short of a complete download and clicking on the zip file to open it showed that the zip file was empty.

But using a zip repair program repaired the zip file, and its contents back to full health.

For general knowledge the old freeware version of PowerArchiver (version 6.11) has a built in zip repair utility and that is what I use. The version can be found on the oldversion.com website under the 'Utilities' listings. In PowerArchiver one would go to 'Tools > Repair Archive'. Not sure of which operating systems the program works on.

Now to get to working on my command line skills to see if I can get to generating some tablebases.

--- If the original hoster of the TBGEN.ZIP doesn't want it to be told of how to get the zip file this post can be altered. Like the forum owner needs my permission to do that. I only post this because I am aware that maybe the original hoster may not want the information told. I have no way of knowing that though.
