Proposed uses of EGTs ...

Post by guyhaw »

I would be interested to know (a) who has Eiko Bleicher's FREEZER software and (b) who is using it in conjunction with 6-man EGTs.
FREEZER allows one to compute EGTs for 7-man endgames with major constraints, e.g., two Pawns are blocking each other - essentially reducint the EGT to 6-man size.
The use of FREEZER to analyse such 7-man positions as occur in games or studies would be instructive and interesting.

In a similar vein, I wonder if anyone has surveyed Chessbase or some similar, topical database of games to identify games in which 6-man (or less) endgame force is used. 'Out there', I wonder what games best illustrate sub-7-man endgame play and how that play measures up against the gold standard of the EGTs.

The same survey could be done on the Chess Studies held in the 3rd edition of HvdH's Studies Database, on CD.
