Re: Gaviota EGTB

Aye been following :) great ideas and suggestions. It's fun seeing how things are developing and how many people are interested. Feel a little sorry for the author, know several people besides myself are foaming at the mouth over the prospect of this and waiting for it to go into production. Let alo...

Re: 3-4-5

Looks like you mirrored it when I was getting the 6men too, hense the tablebase.sesse.net/ folder :) Mirrors are always useful. Dr. Hyatts site has been quick and reliable for longer than I've been into chess, but always nice to keep the data spread out. BTW for the 3+3 files you have, I'd md5sum ch...

Elmika wrote:Is this download site reliable? How can I make sure I have the correct files? If the md5 sum is correct how sure can I be then?
The site seems very reliable, I just finished the entire 3+3 and 4+2 sets ~(200gigs) and not a single file was corrupt.
The md5sum's checked perfectly.

Right now my set is about 17gigs.

Thanks for hosting! Filling out my collection now, greatly appreciate it. Going to put more files on my site as well to help the cause. Hard drives are really getting cheap, I bought 2, 1 tb USB external drives for $59 a pop. So for around $120 will be able to have enough space for the entire datase...

Re: Gaviota EGTB

I'm a little behind, just noticed the post on talkchess about that engine. Having it generate 4-5 men on my server now.

Looks nifty, what little I've seen of the engine I really like it. Willing to host the dataset if the author gives permission.

Interesting, is there an open source binding for it so engine others can use these? Grabbing now will take a better look at it tonight.

This url does not seem to work anymore. Does anyone know of a place where I could download the Scorpio bitbases (3-4-5)? I have been looking around for quite a while now to no avail... Ops sorry about that. My hosting provider moved some stuff around and looks like that was lost. Will dig it up at ...

Re: 7-men EGTB Bounty

I am faaaar from rich, but have a few pennies I'd be willing to donate to such a "fund" and more importantly willing to donate bandwidth to the cause. I'm greatful for Nalimov, but w/o an open source or "non requiring author for authorization license" egtb generation/probing is a...

Olympuschess Update

Thanks to Steinar H. Gunderson's http site which I modestly leeched from 110gigs. I am not in the process of mirroring those files 4+2 complete on my site. http://olympuschess.com/tb6/ccrl/

Thanks Steinar for leeting me leech, will try to host as much as I can!

Scorpio Bitbase Share

I was looking over the main emule page. If you want you can add a hard link to my site for the scorpio bitbases.

For others in the forum it's here:
http://olympuschess.com/bitbases/

It's been there since June '07 lol, guess I forgot to make the link available. Sorry.

Re: Share Your Tablebases

Sadly I've let my olympuschess.com site go a bit stale. I tried deeply to get amule and such working but I dont know if it's the linux client or what I was barely getting a gig a month if that. 99% of what I have is from people literally sending my DVD's and one time a hard drive. (which I'm very gr...

Yearly Where are the 7-men Thread

It's now 2008 and even I can afford a 1-2tb every couple months. So disk space doesnt seem to be the issue anymore. So where are the 7-men tables and has anyone have any updates? Every 6months or so this topic comes up and we all seem to dredge up posts from 2004-2005'ish about someone doing somethi...

Re: EGTB sharing - new plan

That's pretty cheap for hosting :) the hosting I use for olympuschess.com is ixwebhosting. Think I pay about $125 a year so ~$12 a month, but I have a 500gig max transfer rate. While they do claim "unlimited storage" I've asked for verification and since it is a vhosting service, they get ...

Endgame Metrics

Over the past couple years I know this has been asked either here or on talkchess, but I have yet to find the question or answer again, so perhaps some ladies or gentlemen here can enlighten me. What are the different metrics used in egtb's, and second among the known egtb tablebases (nalimov, chess...

Sorry for the late reply. I try to host as much as I can on my site, there's also the Pakman server (hope I spelled that right). Other than that emule is the best place to get them. Good luck. As for the amount, I can host about 60gigs of data. So I'm a little limited, plus I host 3 other sites and ...

Re: 5-1 EGTB's

Well I have about 800gigs free on my main desktop, and a bit more on my server. I also have a P4 3ghz w/ HT available, a AMD64 dual core 3ghz machine available, and a 2ghz machine as well that I could let burn for 5-1. So the CPU is here, and time spent doing something useful is better than time was...

Wanted to add, that 3-4-5 isn't a high priority. Between Dr. Hyatt and myself and this project I feel that void is well taken care of. I'm uploading the 3-4-5 dataset to my site right now and it's paid for at least another 4 years (let alone Dr. Hyatt's main source). I just truly would like another ...
