Re: Google Hosting
jkominek: wonderful news. Hope your source makes a dent. I still haven't received any feedback about my email. I urge everyone on this list to email google about this project. Perhaps with enough info they'll be more interested. The best email source I've found is research-blog@google.com. If anyone...

Re: Google Hosting
I sent an email, but no response. Kind of a shot in the dark, but I would really like to see this become a reality. I also mentioned this project.

Re: 5-1 EGTB's
If there is a linux port or if I can compile it, I'd be willing to generate some of the 5-1 tables and host them on my site.
Let me know

Google Hosting
I came across this article today, and thought about egtb's. http://blog.wired.com/wiredscience/2008/01/google-to-provi.html Google is willing to host "open source scientific data" for free, by sending out a multi-TB drive array for researchs to copy data to and send back to google. This wo...

I second that, I'm also available to help out if possible. Both CPU time and hosting the files once done. Wouldn't mind even doing some coding.

7-men egtb and wikipedia
To follow up on a previous post. There has been a decent amount of fragmented info on 7-men egtb's over the years. I'm proposing that we make a wikipedia entry for it and try and consolidate as much of the info we have into one place. Even I have trouble digging up info on the fragments. Best I reme...

Re: 7 piece question
To the best of my knowledge none of the 7men egtb's have been available to the public. There has been some reports over the years that they are being worked on but the discussions tend to fizzle out. Forget the author at the moment. Hopefully once more are done they can be released into the wild. I ...

Nalimov and Licensing
Something came to mind yesterday and thought I'd see what the opinion of the group is. In order to use the Nalimov code in a non-commercial project you have to get permission from Mr. Nalimov first, which is ok he does offer it for free and has been very good to the community. Though I've read that ...

Re: bzip2 vs. emd compression of 3,4,5 tables: results
I brought up this argument a couple years back. Dr. Hyatt pretty much set me straight when he said (more or less) the compression algorithm used in the nalimov dataset was specifically designed for egtb's so whether it compresses better or not than bzip or gzip isn't as important, those methods don'...

Re: Need egtb - Josh
I was on a hiatus for several months but finally getting back into the scene. Good eye :) I just started uploading more files last night. My connection only has a 75k uplink so it's going to take a week probably to upload the current set in the queue (about 32gigs) I'll check and see what I have, if...

How much of the entire 6-men set do you have?
I'm starting to build up my collection, was curious how far along most of the people are in their quest to get the complete set.

Re: Current status of 7-men tablebases?
Just bumping this up, to see if there is still continued interest. Who is doing what with 7men, what type of generator, and what the status is. Any info is appreciated
With dual core and SMP machines being common now adays even 64bit, generating ought to be a little easier

Bitbases 3-4-5 on http
I have the 3-4-5 bitbases available for download on my site. Since they're small it should be a permanent link.
http://www.olympuschess.com/bitbases/
I have md5sum checked them again and they're good.
Enjoy!

Good question. If they are not available from WBEC anymore then I guess we can start sharing them on eMule as well. Fortunately they are far smaller than 6-men Nalimov. :D I have them so I'll share them and post the link here (and at EGTB Online project page). I'll load up emule tonight, unless som...

Re: 5-1 EGTB generation revisited
Hi all, If you are interested in joining this effort, there are plenty of things that remain to be done: Good Morning, I've computered some 5-1 egtbs using FEG several months back. If you want to email me a list of sets that need done I'm willing to both generate and share the data via my website. ...

Re-generated KNNNNK
Seems the first run wasn't right, but it only took 2 days to regenerate KNNNNK
The egtb is 1.5 gigs. However I dont see any statistics or logs files. Will have to dig around some more.
