Re: Snail mail EGTB trading

I have downloaded the missing TB so now have the complete set, although md5sum shows them ALL as failed? I installed them in the Shredder GUI and tested them on a couple of positions both found the mate from the TB (checked the result against the online version and it was correct). The mates were n...

Re: Snail mail EGTB trading

Wilhelm does not seem to run on Vista 64-bit not really sure as all the messages were in German....

I need to look for an alternate md5sum.exe or find what dlls are missing as it will not run...

Will try later unfortunately I really do not have time to sort this at the moment.

Re: Snail mail EGTB trading

Re: Snail mail EGTB trading

I think I have all the 6 men TB's - and should be able to start loading them up on 1.5TB drives for mailing :) However I have very little time at the moment to search about so I am going to be lazy and ask here: What is the easiest way to verify the 6 men TB's? Thanks Shaun P.S. Once we have a few c...

Re: Snail mail EGTB trading

Well so far I have not had any complaints from my ISP. The ISP contracts in the UK(and I am sure everywhere else too) vary tremendously, some are unlimited (but with the right to decide what is reasonable) others specify a cap. I currently have 3 ISPs , cable 10Mb/s max download speed / unlim...

Re: Snail mail EGTB trading

Since my broadband was upgraded I have started downloading the 6-men in anger. 1 month ago I had 60gb's worth and that had taken me months over a few years. Now in a few weeks I have 695GB. By the end of August I should have the complete 6-men assuming my ISP does not close my account - I am way bey...

Yes - typically the same compile version is used.

Re: Toga-II Best free chess engine

Hi ChessKnight,

There is a Toga developers forum here, new versions should be available there first and also it is a good place to ask questions. There is also going to be a FAQ soon.

Please read the Registration instructions.

All the best

Re: Rybka 3 Rating at FRC - Web site updated

It is interesting to note that if you look here you can see relative performance for each pairing and playing weaker engines does not seem to hurt Rybkas rating (I have seen it mentioned before that playing a much weaker opponent can result in a poor performance for the stronger engine).

Re: Please Help with the Gauntlet

If you load the engine does it play fine?

Do other gauntlets run fine?

If you could post the steps you are trying or attach a couple of screenshots it might help show where the problem is.

Re: Backup tablebases

RAR was best using the max setting, ZIP was close using max setting. With 4 piece tablebases, is one thing, but as the tablebases get larger the issues of complexity in the blocks means its tricky to compress them optimally. Try 7-Zip I find this compresses better than RAR and WinZip for everything...

Re: Can't reproduce analysis: CCRL 07/04/08 Toga II 1.4.1SE

Would a difference in hash table size account for the different PVs on the first non-book move? It can, to see this try changing the hash size and I am fairly confident you will see different PV's Shaun for example 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 e5 5.Nb5 d6 6.N1c3 Nf6 7.Nd5 Nxd5 8.exd5 Ne7 9.c4...

Hi Carl, sorry only just had a chance to look at this... and Harald thank you for your initial reply. One thing to add the Haralds information - the hash size will also effect the pv. I can't check now but I suspect that the hash size was 256mb or it could possibly have been 128mb. Looking at you an...
