Is the torrent still active? If so shouldn't be to hard to get it added to the system.kp1139 wrote:Please consider this request removed now, I will stop checking for a reply. I will also create my own solution otherwise, no worries.

Re: Can we add this .torrent file to Olympuschess tracker ?
I will do my best to see about hosting this. I've been tempted to host this set (and I do I have the full set) but due to its enormous size was concerned about seeds.
Will update once I figure out an answer.

I have a spare 2TB drive (picked up on Black Friday for $50) hehe.. actually 2 of them. Anyway was thinking, if people who want them but don't have them. Would a public snail mail swap still be something of interest? Say use this forum, and make the request. I load it up and send to the first person...

Nalimov 6-men EGTB
There was a website, that hosted them all (where I grabbed most of my collection). Didn't see it on the main emule website anymore. Though I swear I randomly tried it a week or so back and it was still live. Anyone have the URL? Someone emailed me for egtbs (offered to snail mail) but also sent them...

Re: 6 piece scorpio bases
Side topic, but I host the 3-4-5 scorpio bitbases on my site. Someone told me they were no longer useful, because as of the most recent version of scorpio the format has changed, so I would need to regenerate them for the latest version. Is this true? If so I'll remove the version I have. Willing to...

Giving this app another try. Now that I have a Windows-64bit machine with 8gigs of RAM. My last attempt was via wine and didn't fair so well.
Seems like a promising project.

Interesting will take a look. I finally have have the full 3-4-5-6 set thanks to this project. If I get any results will post a response. -Josh Edit: if this is due to corrupt egtb's this should be a note for people using them to systematically do md5sum checks against your dataset when competing. Re: Gaviota and 6-men
Just bumping this up the list :) It's now been 17 months since my initial post so still curious what's in the pipeline. I've been saving money for a while for a top of the line chess machine, and if 6men code for gaviota was available I'd be willing to build and dedicate it to this. While the 6-men ...

Thanks, had no idea what that was on the top. Think I've seen Retrochess before. Will try tinkering with it.Kirill Kryukov wrote: It seems you have to solve the CAPTCHA question at the top of the page for the download button to work. Took a look at the site but the download button doesn't yield anything.
If it really generates 3-7 then this is amazing. Looking at the html didn't yield anything though in terms of a download, system requirements, etc.

Re: 7-man EGTB Bounty Reborn - General Discussion
I agree the generator and example probing code should be in C. It's robust, fast, and you can pretty much write a wrapper in any other language. If I may suggest, I think the file format should be one of the first things that needs tackled. Because even if we can get a hodge podge generator running ...

If I could I would. 7men, has been on my dream list for the past several years but alas no code to generate these. If I had it within my means I'd generate and give away for free. Good luck.

The price for drives is really coming down. This shopping season I picked up 2, 2TB drives for $69 us each. Plan to dedicated 1 to just egtbs. Re: 'HH' Study Database, Edition 4
Interesting read so far. I was amazed to see that even 5-1 was taken into consideration. Since nalimov doesn't support that what dataset was used and is it available with source code probing code? There was a thread here last year about 5-1 so I'll have to dig it up. I'm curious though but what do y...

Just popping in to say hi and hope everyone is well. Seems the scene has kinda died down a good bit from the original days when this started.
Hope work is still being done for 6 and beyond, but still here to read and discuss.

Sounds like a good idea to medann corbit wrote:I have a notion:
When you rewrite the 5 man and generalize it for larger counts, how about making it totally general so that 7,8,9 etc. man files can also be generated.
It may sound silly now, but 5 years from now we'll have petabyte hard drives for $100.

Thanks for the update and appreciate all your hard work so far. Not in a rush, just a little anxious to start generating some but understand the wait. Gaviota and 6-men
When Gaviota was released there was a lot of discussion on how to do the egtb generator (that ultimately was for the benefit of 6men).
Wondering if there has been work on that since or if it was still a goal? Then perhaps even 7-men.
Hope everyone is well

Not familiar with par but will check it out.
I have 3-4-5 stored on 3 different drives, some 6men duplicated but most of my 6men are on just 1 large drive. So I hope it never dies lol. Drives are getting cheaper though so might pick one up on a good sell day for duplication.

Re: Engine for Flash Chess AI
Not sure what you mean by Flash but there are many free and strong chess engines out there. I'm partial to crafty and gaviota. If you mean Flash as in Adobe Flash, I'm not aware of any chess programs written in it or if it's even possible to tie a flash GUI against a native binary engine like crafty...

7-Men and fast Hard drives
A while back I was reading about an egtb generator that mentioned the possibility of 7-men, but do to the intense memory usage it would require swapping to to disk. (Muller perhaps?). Came across this today and thought maybe this would help with such a bottleneck. http://www.physorg.com/news18543812...

Gaviota 3-4-5 Soon available
I finished generating the 3-4-5men set for the gaviota engine/egtb's. It will probably take about 12 hours or more to upload to my site but they will be stored there. Included is a sha1sum and md5sum of the files but the authors tbcheck also works wonderfully. http://olympuschess.com/egtb/gaviota/ T...
