Re: The 16 "missing" Nalimov files
I have created the 16 missing Nalimov tablebases for 33p endings by conversion from Johan de Koning's FEG data. The total compressed size is about 130GB, with kqpkrb being the largest at about 17GB, and kppkpp the smallest at about 1 GB. The original FEG data is about 90 GB, smaller partially becau...

Re: The 16 "missing" Nalimov files
I have created the 16 missing Nalimov tablebases for 33p endings by conversion from Johan de Koning's FEG data. I was reading this page: http://www.aarontay.per.sg/Winboard/egtb.html#chessmasteredgb It mentions that the Koning egtb only stores wins from the white point of view. Will this effect the...

In retrospect, to make things run even smoother. I can setup a hidden area on my site for people in this forum download. That way I can get the files to other key distributors before releasing it to the public. What do you all think? This would take some strain off my server by allowing it to be mor...

Re: The 16 "missing" Nalimov files
I have created the 16 missing Nalimov tablebases for `3.8 Ghz machine, but the other endings will run a lot faster. I have decided to run verification on all the endings to minimize the chances of repeated file exchanges. All the verifications were successful. Attached are the .tbs and md5sums for ...

Kreuzer's tbgen compile question
Greetings,
It seems all of my problems have been due to a messed up g++ install. I was able to compile it on another machine here.
I've tried the examples, but I still get "Illegal tablebase name: 0s"
Anyone have an example command-line? Would like to start 5-1 egtb's

Re: Timings
Dear Guido, please do not take my first timings very seriously. They were obtained with a compilation of the TB generator which was quite inefficient. I had not used any "optimization" and the executable included a lot of unneeded debug information. The later compilations are faster by ab...

Hi Mark, Super job nice work! Listen when do you expect these 16 TB's to be verified for correctness? I have been studying the data from the TBS files and am very much interested in the results of the TBS files and not the actual tablebases. I guess until all 16 of these files are verified for corr...

Excellent news, thank you very much, Marc! I'd suggest to send it to Joshua Shriver, as he lives in US (AFAIK), and he has good connection, and because I know he will share the files online. (And he also volanteered in another thread). Aye :) I live in Ohio. What are the prereq sets for verificatio...

Re: kqbkrn
Hi Marc, Josh, did I understand correctly that you have also generated kqpkrn already? I will let my computer finish the calculation anyway because I would like to compare the result. The source code of tbgen I compiled using g++ and -O3 is attached. I did nothing but eliminate the error messages, ...

Re: kqpkrb and kqpkrn
Hi Marc, presently I am computing kqpkrn. I am using Nalimov's program. My computer is now doing the 9th iteration, with 63 still to go. The speed is currently a little below 1 iteration per day. After that I had planned to do kqpkrb. Do you think it is worthwhile to do this? Or are their better wa...

egtb tree
Does anyone know if there is a tree or document describing the requirements of each egtbs against others? I might be wrong, but I thought some required subset egtbs to work properly. So knowing what require what would be nice.
But maybe that's just for generation and not for general use.

Re: Why to use EGTB? We need examples.
Hi all. After half a year of sharing we still have less than 50 people participating. Very few new people are joining. Where are all thousands of chess players, why they don't want to improve their endgame analysis by perfect chess knowledge? Is it something to do with the huge hard drive storage r...

Re: Why to use EGTB? We need examples.
I read a while back, where a post analysis done by a GM used the 6men egtb to find a flaw in the his or his opponent's endgame. If I find the article I'll post it, since the game pgn would be a good example.

Re: tbgen compiled!
Pls may you record execution time and memory used for each 6-men TB generated by you (and the PC you use)? I'm the author of another TBs generator (see the thread "Semi-new egtb format") and in this time I'm generating 6-men TBs, so these data can be very ineteresting for me. Moreover I c...

Hi all, after fiddling with the code a bit, my student and I have been able to compile it using g++ under linux.
