Re: New engine: Tcheran
Here is the trick: before running I just create a blank file with the log name (zappa.log for example), then modify permissions to make it read only, since the file name exists, the engine can't write to the file, but that permission shouldn't affect engine playing. Unless of course the engine cras...

Re: New engine: Tcheran
Agreed 100%, it was just unfortunate that I saw that comment in your engines thread, the solution is indeed obsolete and not required for Tcheran, but just thought a good place to leave a solution id found many moons a go, as it should hold true for other places where we weren't lucky enough to have...

Re: New engine: Tcheran
What does strategy do, does it make sense to change it and how to do it? Is there a way to disable logging? That file has already grown to 25 MB. Hey Gabor, one trick I've used in the past to handle similar situations where I wasn't lucky enough to have the author make a change :) Here is the trick...

Re: CCRL Testing/Contributing
That does make sense, but in my experience as long as I am looking at 1 CPU runs and my concurrency less than my physical cores allows me to maintain the expected performance. Having said that I will do a new time control scaling when I start a new category of testing (i.e. once I start 4CPU I'll do...

Re: CCRL Testing/Contributing
Correct! I do use cutechess-cli, I kinda have it setup such I can automate runs back to back without having to intervene. Though as you correctly pointed out, running cli means not seeing games, so if the setup is wrong I can waste a bit of time, but I think with the trial and error I've had to do w...

Re: CCRL Testing/Contributing
Indeed, I want to run with concurrency 15 for 5950x and 7 for 5800HX, in such cases specially keeping the IOps on the same storage 30 times in parallel in mind I just prefer 5 man. It kinda allows me to maintain quality of games while being reasonably confident of running basically the same setup ac...

Re: CCRL Testing/Contributing
For the above, here is a list of computers/specifications that I will run: 1. Primary : Ryzen 9 5950X (16core) w 48GB RAM, 5-man syzygy (all on SSD) 2. Secondary : Ryzen 9 5800HX(8core) 16G RAM, 5-man syzygy (all on SSD) I will also be dedicating some more compute time from my older machines, giving...

CCRL Testing/Contributing
Hi All, I had the pleasure of having a connect with Graham, who very patiently walked me through the CCRL processes and framework. Having had a detailed conversation with Graham, I am very keep on joining the group and contribute to the best of my ability. I will be contributing most of my CPU time ...
