Re: FRC/Chess960 ranking
Should this be used with or without NNUE for chess960 ? Looks to me as if it is significantly weaker at chess960 than normal chess. The normal chess rankings have NNUE enabled but you decide. Yes, it seems quite weak in chess960 but there is a big Elo gap between 6. Fire 7.1 and 7. Schooner 2.2. I ...

Re: 83rd Amateur Series Division 1 (completed)
Thanks for the tounament, Graham. I looked into the final pgn and it confirms what I believed to see following the games in broadcast: - Games are usually played in pairs using the same opening with black and white except... - Game pair 11/77 don't use the same opening probably because game 77 was r...

Re: FRC/Chess960 ranking
I have submitted the file now to Microsoft as a false-positive report. We'll see if this helps.
Using NNUE evaluation the popcount binary is noticeably slower than the AVX2 binary, with NNUE disabled it is probably not important which you use.

Re: FRC/Chess960 ranking
I have the same Windows version but my Defender is 1.327.2163.0 so a little newer.
I have uploaded the executables now. AVX2 build is only important if you have an AMD Ryzen cpu. For modern Intel cpu you should use BMI2.

Re: FRC/Chess960 ranking
Submitting a file for malware analysis at Microsoft I need to select the Defender version in a dropdown list. Which Windows version do you use? They have "Defender for Windows10", "Defender for WIndows 8", "Defender for Windows 7 and older" and "Microsoft Security ...

Re: FRC/Chess960 ranking
Seems that it is the zip file itself which triggers the Defender.
I have uploaded a new zip file Windows-stable-binaries-1.9-new.zip with a different compression ratio to the Github release. Hope this works better.

Re: FRC/Chess960 ranking
Hi Ray. This is a false-positive alarm of Windows Defender. https://github.com/Matthies/RubiChess/issues/256 However, the virus alarm is gone on my WIndows machine so I cannot even report this problem to Microsoft. So I can only hope that it is gone for everybody with some Defender update. Regards, ...

FRC/Chess960 ranking
Hi.
Anybody interested in testing RubiChess for the FRC list? It can play this variant since the TCEC18/1.7.3 release.
Regards, Andreas

Re: NNUE controversy and some suggestions (example: Igel, Nemorino...)
This is a precarious situation and CCRL is in for criticism whatever policy it chooses to follow. That is absolutely true. We can't please everyone all of the time. It is an incredibly difficult situation, because we really don't want to be in a position of having to judge if a net is "origina...

Re: NNUE controversy and some suggestions (example: Igel, Nemorino...)
Ray, you are not listening to me... let`s try it one more time, in slow-motion... Calm down! This is not the kind of conversation that leads to something useful. you have 2 engines, let's call them engine A and B... both CAN use NNUE and both can play WITHOUT NNUE... you test one with, and one with...

Re: Does the Linux version of Livius actually work?
I can confirm that Livius works fine under Linux (Xubuntu 19.04 here) compiled from source.
The telnet test doesn't work cause it tests tcp connection while TLCV / Livius uses udp protocol.

Re: New AB Engine: Honeycomb
Ethereal is open source. It also comes with a GNU General Public License v3.0 which says I can modify it and distribute it provided I include the same licence and credit the author(s) which I have done. I will stop conversation here. Lets see if anybody is interested testing a "fork" that...

Re: New AB Engine: Honeycomb
I clearly stated multiple times it's based on ethereal. Also it plays completely different to ethereal. Yes. It plays "totally different" cause you simplified some Evaluation parameters: Ethereal: const int PawnValue = S( 100, 123); const int KnightValue = S( 463, 392); const int BishopVa...

Re: New AB Engine: Honeycomb
Done. The engine is now a single executible. No .dll files required. It's avaliable on GitHub under releases You haven't learned anything from the Waterfall disaster last year, have you? I had a quick look at "your" source. List of files is identical to Ethereal and looking at "your&...

Hi.
RubiChess 0.7 is outdated. Latest release is 0.8(.1) as posted here in the forum and proved to be a lot stronger than 0.7 in Grahams Tests.

Re: New Chess Engine - Pleco!
I'm new to the open-sourcing scene, is there a way I can better document and make it clear that the engine is a direct offshoot of stockfish? And that quite a few of the algorithms are ported from stockfish's C++ into Rust? I would prefer it to be made clear that this engine is not attempting to ri...

Re: Test for CCRL 40/4: New engine Rubichess
Hi CCRL team. Nice to see my little engine in the CCRL ranking list. Just looked through the 40/4 list yesterday to find some new opponents when I found myself :-) That's even more motivation to improve it in the future... May I ask you how you found RubiChess? I didn't do any public announcements a...
