Re: Second Troitzky line and Syzygy.
But would that not greatly diminish the significance of the second Troitzky line? That would depend on what Helmut Conrady had in mind as the meaning of "securely blockaded". I think Müller and Lamprecht Fundamental Chess Endings means exactly what I gave by "securely blockaded"...

Re: Second Troitzky line and Syzygy.
(syzygy - I read your answers backto front, so I'm afraid my replies are also.) Apologies again for the delayed reply. The second Troitzky line analysis was done by Helmut Conrady, Dr. Müller asked the question in the first part of one Chess Café article and publicized Conrady's response in the seco...

Re: Troitsky line and native chess programs
I wasn't intending that the engine should assume that only the Troitzky line positions are won. The rule could be used to give a definite evaluation of certain positions, so that a forward search can stop at any such positions without further analysis. Any position where such a position could be for...

Troitsky line and native chess programs
I sometimes practice the two knights v pawn ending against Rybka 2.3.2a mp 32-bit native (i.e.with no EGTB attached). This is because Rybka normally plays this ending reasonably well unaided, but will vary the game (as opposed to Wilhelm with an attached EGTB). I think the superiority of Rybka in th...

Re: Second Troitzky line and Syzygy.
I would guess from your previous reply that you know of no analysis of the "second Troitzky line" result (with a specific meaning of "securely blockaded" such as the one I suggest) using a DTM50 database. From the very limited analysis I have done myself (with the aid of the Nali...

Re: Second Troitzky line and Syzygy.
Thanks for your reply. I agree that "securely blockaded" is unclear. I think the only good definition is "a knight blockades (stands directly in front of) the pawn and is guarded by the other knight ". With other plausible definitions the positions I gave in http://kirill-kryukov...

Second Troitzky line and Syzygy.
Does anyone know if the second Troitzky line result http://www.chesscafe.com/text/mueller36.pdf has been verified using Syzygy DTM50? (I think you have to interpret "securely blockaded" in the article to mean the other knight defends the blockading knight, or it obviously can't be verified).

knnkp DTM50 examples wanted
I'm trying to get the hang of knnkp and I'm looking for a selection of positions with pc=0 and DTM<70 where the result with both sides using the DTM metric is different from the result if one player or both uses the DTM50 metric. Can anybody point me to such a selection or provide a few, please? I t...

Troitzky line
The Troitzky line rule (relating to the knnkp ending) is generally to be found on the internet as For the position with White on the attack, Troitsky established that if a black pawn is blockaded (by one of White's knights) on a square no further forward than the line a4-b6-c5-d4-e4-f5-g6-h4, then W...

Hi folks, it's me.
According to the registration posts I'm supposed to introduce myself.
