5-1 EGTB's

Its been a while since I have checked if anyone is working on completing the 5-1 egtb's? I know that some of them were generated but if my memory is correct there was still about 20 of them to do. Can anyone let me know what the current status is on them?

Thanks in advance,

Les

Re: 5-1 EGTB's

Hi John,

Just wondering how things are going with your generation of the remaining 5-1 egtb's and when you think they might be completed. Are they presenting any difficulties? Just curious.

Thanks,

Les

Re: 5-1 EGTB's

Hi John, Did I hear you say this has got to stop?? No not yet please <S>. Thanks for all your work regarding the completion of the 5-1 egtb's. I see your desire to eventually start working on the 7 egtb's!! I cant imagine how long that may take or the size of it! Do you have a generator that you bel...

Re: 5-1 EGTB's

Hi John, I just came across your update regarding the pawnful 5-1 egtb's. I am thrilled that you had additional time to generate them. I would think that they probably take less time to generate then a less inbalanced position ie 3-3 etc. I will keep checking in on your progress. Once again thx John...

Re: 5-1 EGTB's

Hi John, Thanks for your update! I am glad their are a few of us still interested in the 5-1 pawn and pawnless egtb's. I am studying these egtb's and need to have a complete set of perfect information on each EGTB or I cant includde it in my study obviously. Keep me posted as things progress, good w...

Re: 5-1 EGTB's

Hi John, Thanks for your response. Out of curiousity would you say the convergence of a solution in these 5-1 pawn or pawnless positions converge quickly to a solution? Secondly would you expect there to be a big difference of the convergence onto a solution between the pawn and pawnless positions? ...

Hi John,

Just doing a followup to see if you had begun the generation of the 5-1 egtb's for the postions containing pawns.

Thanks,

Re: 5-1 EGTB's

<SSS> Great going John I am so excitied that you are generating these for the most part useless egtb's as others have said but to me it will allow me to complete my study of egtb's 3 to 6. You know I will be watching patiently for the arrival of others. BTW John how long does it take to complete on...

5-1 EGTB's

Hi Eveyrone, Its been a while since I have asked about this subject. I am wondering if anyone knows if anyone is working on generating them yet. I am in the process of getting a new system and I would be willing to try and generate them if someone could modify Eugene's code. Keep in mind I am aware ...

Hi Ernest, Way back in early January, still feeling the liberation of Christmas holidays, I made headway in the task of extending tbgen for this purpose. In a spate of New Years resolutions of Great Progress This Year I had, well, uh, visages of great progress -- of the generation code churning awa...

Re: Current status of 7-men tablebases?

I cannot seem to find any up to date information so I decided to ask. What's the current situation with 7-men tablebases? All 6-men tablebases Hi ZeroOne well not all 6 piece EGTB have been done, just the 3-3 and 4-2 with and without pawns. 5-1 has never been done and there seems to be no interest ...

Re: Generating 5-1 EGTs ...

I go along with almost (!) everything jk says. The principles of the Nalimov indexing-system are described in a Nalimov/Haworth/Heinz ICGA_J paper (v23.3 pp148-162) and can be extended to 5-1 endgames. However, taking the code into 'new territory' might identify new challenges for the code if it is...

Hi, It has been a while since poking my head in this forum, and I find myself amused by the off-topic exchange between (eager and frustrated) vb4 and (the tad haughty) guyhaw. Actually, vb4, I'm on sufficiently familiar terms with tbgen to perform the extension. I'm interested in doing this, at som...

Re: Nalimov on 5-1 EGTs

I haven't seen the Nalimov code lately, but imagine it does have to be modified for 5-1 EGTs. The index-ranges have to be defined somewhere (for some reason that's not clear to me as they can be worked out at runtime). Also, whenever one pushes a code into diffferent territory, if it not generic en...

Re: 5-1 EGTs ...

The (5-1) FEG (DTM) EGTs are not as accessible as the Nalimov ones for three reasons. First, they are only accessible by CHESSMASTER. Secondly, there is no ancillary access process analogous to TBGEN. Thirdly, the index-scheme was good for the EGT-generation phase but is bad for repeated access in ...

Re: Discussion board activity ...

It's quite reasonable that this b'board should be quiet for the moment if people don't think there is much to discuss at the moment. Eiko Bleicher and I have completed some work on the 6-man maxDTM positions. Eiko has also surveyed all his 6-man EGTs for the zugzwang positions of Types 1-3 and most...

Why is this forum so quiet?

When I first came across this forum I thought it was a great place to talk about egtb's. Only 4 posts in the last month is disappointing since there are so many interesting things to learn about eg's. I know that we have finished the 5-1 sets and this is a very strong interest of mine. Unfortunately...

My thanks to all who helped generate 5-1 EGTB. Question

Not to long ago I see that we now have all 5-1 egtb's generated and that there was some general talk about possibly someone transposing the stats into Eugene formated stat files. Does anyone know if anything has been done and who may be working on it. I am very interested in those stats but unfortun...

Re: next 5 EGTB

Hi all, now I have posted the next five 5-1 EGTB, namely kbbppk, kqbnpk, kqrnpk, and krbnpk. they are complete with stats files and md5sums, as usual. Altogether 56 EGTB have been posted now. I have already computed all 65 EGTB with at most two pawns and the five EGTB with 3 or 4 pawns are under wa...
