Re: Feg / De Koning EDGB file format / indexing

Actually, De Koning EDGB file format use these 8x (pawnless) and 2x (with pawns) symetries in indexing. I also suspect that feg uses mailbox array board representation (12 rows and 10 columns).
I will write more about that later.

Feg / De Koning EDGB file format / indexing

Feg / De Koning EDGB file format Let's start with indexing. Feg uses 64-bit indexing that is divided to two 32-bit integers. 32-bits for white pieces and 32-bits for black pieces. My opinion is that indexing is relatively simple compared to Nalimov indexing. Let's call 32-bit part of index reserved ...

7-men pawnless ending + underpromotions

I have few questions regarding tablebases and endgames. 1. How ofter OTB happens 7-men pawnless ending. Like how many such games are in megabase 2008? Any idea? Are these just strage curiority or does it happen? Which one is most usual? 2. How many underpromotion wins / draws are found using tableba...

Re: Factorizing tablebases by K-slice

If you can write a program that is able to generate all 6-men tablebase files (nalimov format) in 2,4 - 2,7 Ghz quad with 2-4 giga memory under 100 days then this is a great leap forward! I have been downloading all 6-men tablebases 1,3 years now and I am not finished yet. Just to set your goals to ...

Undocumented feg feature

I have been using feg.exe a lot lately. And quite suprisingly, I found very nice undocumeted feature from it. feg has two undocumeted commandline options : feg -p and feg -pe where p means position, I guess, and pe means epd position. I don't know how -p commandline option works, but I was able to f...

Re: EGTB sharing - new plan

BTW. You are talking about generating in the memory vs. generating in the hard disk.
How about solid state disks or USB memory?
Some USB memories are quite cheap like Corsair 32GB Flash Voyager is around 100 - 150 Eur + much better randon access times compared to HD.

Re: EGTB sharing - new plan

About kQQQkQQQ, I guess that (462*62*61*60*59*58*57)/(6*6) = 568 *10^9 positions. i guess that quite many are illegal?

Re: EGTB sharing - new plan

Hello, I see that you are trying to make tbgenerator that would enable 7-men tablebase generation? Is so, then I would like to know how long would it take to generate one 7-men tablebase using your tbgenerator? Like KQQQKQQ or KRRPKRR ? I made some tests using feg and using it KQQQKQQ would take abo...

Re: Tuhma online 10M/10M

Dear Sir, Someone sent me a message that some of my files are corrupted. They are not. I bought a new hard disk that was faulty and it broke down quite soon. It is possible that this disk has caused some problems. My files are ok but there is possibility that there have been some reading errors from...
