Re: 3x4 chess is solved

I just finished all 10-piece endgames, It took 89 hours to calculate.
Next week I will start 11-piece endgames.

If I can help you in any way, e.g. calculating some endgame groups, just let me know.
I'm thinking about the possibility to create a interface for 3x4 chess and other variants.

Re: 3x4 chess is solved

Hi Kirill, that's really a fantastic work and 43 moves a longest mate are incredible. I downloaded your program and started it on my normal machine ( Intel Duo 3,16 GHz ). Generating all 9-piece endings took 20,5 hours. Now it's on the way for all 10-piece endings. Is it possible to modifie the prog...

Hi John, Thank you for the second list. It looks good now. Yes, I will try to solve 4x4 chess. The files are small enough to get some quick results. First of all I want to check how I can improve the index scheme, also to learn more about it. Second I have some ideas to store the results with a bett...

Thanks again for your help and the data. So far it's clear now. With a normal PC we should be able to calc all endgames up to 9 or 10 pieces. IMO there are wrong combinations in your file, e.g. 45144 4846 kqqqqqrrkqqqqqpp 72,648,576 72.6 MB 4 pawns exchanged to a queen so there shouldn't be any furt...

Hi John, Thank you for your clear answer. It would be great if you could either post the detailed list or send it to me by email. I want to create my own program to get more familar with these technics and will check my results against yours. For now I have onyl two questions: 1. I found 29 valid ki...

I created a key. Just rename the files to your database name. A problem occurs with the 4+2P key because you can't do it with one key. You have to use two keys 3+P v 2 and 4 v k+p. There is no other solution, because it's not symetric. The function "transfer key" can be used only with open...

I saw myself too today. It was the same from spain. I upgraded to Xtreme 5.4 and will block him.

It doesn't work. He is still downloading and isn't banned by Xtreme.
Behind his name now appears as well Xtreme 5.4. Is this my prog or does he use it too ?

Re: 6men EGTB Storage

Hi EnPlaisant,

I'm using two external drives, a 500GB Western Digital and the new 750 GB Seagate Baracuda. Both are running 24 hours per day for months now without any problems.

In retrospect, to make things run even smoother. I can setup a hidden area on my site for people in this forum download. That way I can get the files to other key distributors before releasing it to the public. What do you all think? This would take some strain off my server by allowing it to be mo...

Hi Mark, ...... Is there any chance if these 16 come out ok that you would be willing to generate the 5-1 tbalebases along with their TBS files?? It would be important to me for sure to support some of my research in EGTB's. I would think that except for the KPPPPK tablebase that the others should ...

You can't calculate 5+1 EGTBs with this code. I had only a short look on it till now but there are only defines for 4+2 and 3+3 EGTBs. The code has to be modified. During my holidays within the next three weeks I will try to understand the code and what to do to calculate the missing 5+1 tables. I'm...
