I agree on that. I've personally removed 3-4-5 tablebases from my eMule shared directory, just to distribute the 6-men tablebases more efficiently.

Re: Google Hosting

Cool! I'd think EGTBs definitely count. 1,2 TBs would also be practically nothing for Google as they're already planning to host the 120 TBs of Hubble Space Telescope data. Yet 1,2 TB is enough so that one can say that it couldn't possible be hosted elsewhere. Maybe Google would also be inspired to ...

Re: utility for testing tablebases integrity

I'd also like to know the reasoning for the current classification. Could you add an alternative view mode, the tree just sorted alphabetically within the 33, 42P, etc categories? You could also save and display the sizes of all tablebases in the program. That would help one to spot the small ones a...

Re: Speed-comparison

What engines, if any, can utilize your bitbases? I hope you design the program so that it can generate bitbases of arbitrary size, not just limited to 6-men... Would that be possible? I think we'd have many 7-man and perhaps even 8-man tablebases if only the Nalimov format wasn't limited to 6-men. O...

Re: web-page to access for 6-men tablebases online

Nice one. How about adding a little more room for the moves and some little arrows one could use to browse through them? Also, when I press Evaluate, the program appears to freeze for a few seconds. It would be nice to have some indicator telling that the program is actually loading the results.

Re: 7-men egtb and wikipedia

Definitely not a separate page into Wikipedia, as there is already the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endgame_tablebase article. You can incorporate some data into that if you want. You should consider using http://chess.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page or http://chess.wikidot.com/ , those are more dedicated ...

Re: How can we ensure, that you can download from me? (Update)

I still don't see alternatives to eMule for massive file sharing like we do here. What about BitTorrent? I was personally frustrated when I had to download yet-another-p2p-client to download the tablebases. BitTorrent has a large user base and works in a similar way to eMule in that you share even ...

Re: Big Bang offline

Anyone can suggest it, JT-CHESS, but since no one is suggesting, I'll take Sciolto's hint and decide that we should all connect to eDonkeyServer No2 (83.149.104.123:4242) in case the BigBangs do not work.

Re: Has anyone thought about contacting Google?

3) Has anyone thought about contacting Google? They host staggering amounts of data, and allow users equally staggering bandwidth. According to Forbes, Google is launching an online storage service. Hosting the full six piece Nalimov set would cost, hmm, $2500 a year: http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap...

Re: 7-man EGTs

Yakov Konoval has a new super-fast code that computes 7-man EGTs to the DTC(onversion) metric. What if one is not interested in the metrics but just the status of a position -- whether it's won, lost or a draw? Anyone developing any new bitbases? I'd think that's a faster process than developing fu...

That will get short one day too. Why not program it to do n-men tables?

As a side note, my computer has 1.5 GB of RAM.

In the interim, I'm open to pledges of donated computing power. I could donate some computing power... I have even just finished downloading all 5-men Nalimov bases. I just need a program and some instructions. I'm already running BOINC continuously anyway so I might as well run this thing. Edit/Ad...

Yes, the dll is available from WBEC and so are the 3 and 4 men bitbases (as a rar-file), so right now my mirror is rather useless, unless there is a way to add a http-source into the eMule link? I'll let you know if I ever get any space for larger files. Btw, I moved the tablebase stuff under the TB...

Excellent, thanks for the quick reply and action, Kirill! I already downloaded the archive with the 3 and 4-men bitbases and I'm currently downloading the 5-man archive. Meanwhile I uploaded the Scorpio-bitbases-3-4-men.zip into my personal web space. The MD5 sum is 57a10d31dcb9085ab968b47957b7e6e1,...

Downloading Scorpio bitbases

I have found the WBEC Ridderkerk Scorpio page that has two links to MomUPLoad.com. Whenever I try to download the bitbases from MomUPLoad.com, I only get some two to twenty megabytes of data before the download ends for no apparent reason. Can anyone download the bitbases? I also found some other li...

Current status of 7-men tablebases?

I cannot seem to find any up to date information so I decided to ask. What's the current situation with 7-men tablebases? All 6-men tablebases have been created so I think the creation of 7-men tablebases should be in good progress, but the situation appears to be completely opposite. I have gathere...
