Re: The latest CCRL update (26th May 2018)
Thanks, Ray. The problem was indeed on my end: don't try multi-tasking while downloading this file as you may not receive the full file. These files have become a bit unwieldy after 13-14 years of accumulation and the 40/4 is now approaching the maximum usable size for a .pgn. Someone might consider...

7-man EGTB
Not likely to available via P2P anytime soon! First, there are slightly over 1000 7-man combinations (vs. 365 for 6-man). Second, the file size for each combination is on average much larger than the 6-man. To collect the whole set would probably take up considerably more than 10 terabytes. Third, t...

Nice work
Conforms with my results very closely. Not a lot is gained by increasing the engine game sample size dramatically; your list is authoritative as far as I am concerned.

On letting people see your available files
If we look at this project objectively, the best possible result for everyone will be obtained if we collectively achieve the highest possible aggregate rate of uploading and downloading. Don't look at this project as an individual; look at it collectively. If aggregate bandwidth is low, the rate of...

Re your link
I have no doubt the link you provided is accurate, but at first glance that does seem like the numbers would get from a human vs. human database. For our purposes I think you ought to stick to engine vs. engine games as they have a different profile. Human games are more frequently decided before yo...

Why can't we be friends?
Being a "friend" does not in itself help upload/download traffic. Putting someone in the "friend slot" (and you only get to designate one preferred person for this at a time) does help that person go to the top of your queue. If you want to help download speeds for tablebases the...

6-man EGTB collecting tip
Collecting the entire set of 6-man EGTB is intimidating and impractical for most people who don't have the necessary 1.2 terabytes of free disk space on their hard drives. But there is a practical if imperfect solution to this problem: only collect the most important--that is to say, the most freque...
