4x4 Chess
Introduction
My interest to small board chess dates back to 2003 when I was toying with small board shogi. At that time I noticed that tiny board can have surprisingly deep positions, so I started solving experiments. Solving 3x3 chess revealed the longest line of 16 moves, which looked unreal on a tic-tac-toe board. 3x4 chess continued the trend, with the longest win taking 43 moves.
Now 4x4 board is the natural next target. Currently all 9-piece positions are already solved, and in the future I'll probably try solving 10-piece positions. The longest DTM found so far is 59 moves, longest DTC and DTZ - 46 moves.
